About the Book
Salt of the Earth is a visual memoir by North American photographer, Nancy Musinguzi, who documented her personal travels to Uganda, capturing the various dimensions of East African life through a Black American lens. Using her background in anthropology and political science, Musinguzi uses these monographs to take her audience on a journey to a place she never considered home as an American-born African, learning about her father's birthplace with reflexive understanding of heritage and legacy. Her first time visiting Uganda in 17 years, Salt Of The Earth is a new narrative about diaspora, race, culture that uses a silent tale to allow viewers to draw independent conclusions about contemporary African life.
