M. Sharkey is a New York City based portrait photographer. A graduate in literature and music from Bennington College, he moved to New York City in 1995 where he began his photography career through classes at Tisch and the School of Visual Arts. In 2001 he traveled to Dubai, United Arab Emirates where he curated a series of exhibitions of the work of New York and Arab photographers. Mr. Sharkey is pursuing a number of photographic projects including a series documenting gay youth in America. Some of Michael’s clients include: Best Life, Blender, Bust, Interview, Newsweek, New York Magazine, Out, People, S Magazine, SPIN, T: NY Times Style Mag., Trace and Vibe.

Great photos, you really captured people 'in the moment'. What kind of flash did you use? Did you use 2 flashes, like a bult-in and an external? It looks like light is coming from different directions in some photos
