About the Book
In 2015, I returned to Minneapolis for a rugby reunion and spent a day hanging out with Brad. He had left the Twin Cities in the early 1990s and spent a decade riding the rails and living in Alaska. He returned to Minneapolis in the early 2000s and landed a position as caretaker for a compound of buildings not far from the old boxcars.
I was born in Green Bay, WI in 1964. I received by BA in Journalism from the University of Minnesota and my MFA in Documentary Photojournalism from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. My photographs are in the collections of Wells Fargo, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Phoenix Art Museum and the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. Editorial clients include The Atlantic, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, Reuters, Getty, USA Today and The Wall Street Journal. I've been teaching photography classes at Rice University's School of Continuing Studies since 2008.
