In February 2008 six "geezers"--all over 50 years old-- with two over 70--crewed a 20 meter racing sailboat from Ushuaia, Argentina, down the Beagle Channel and across the deadly Drake Passage to Antarctica--and back. 23 days of 2 on, 4 off watches, 30 foot seas and 25 knot winds. Oh, and we cooked, too! No one gained weight.

The result was a difficult and unique adventure sailing to the bottom of the world. A continent visited by a relative few--and far fewer still by sailboat. This wondrous place full of life, raw and bitter weather, glorious landscapes and sunsets--is being slowly destroyed by global climate change.
