The 243 paintings in this book represent a fraction of the work that Marjorie Gotkin created in this genre. In over 20 exhibitions throughout Manhattan, Rhinebeck, NY, Massachusetts and Florida her unique interpretation of an age-old subject has been praised as an innovative style of American Impressionism. Artloop had used her work as representing several categories of art such as flowers, vases, still life and listed her with the great impressionists of the 19th and 20th Centuries. Using palette knives and gouache to create texture and shape her watercolors often resemble oil paintings. Subdued or wildly emotional, the still life/floral leap from the paper. Many reproductions of these works are currently at the Smithsonian Institution, in Washington, D.C., under the title, “Marjorie and Jerry Gotkin Collection 1965-2007”.
