This book is about a three weeks voyage to the Antarctic peninsula on the EUROPA, a three mast sailing ship.
It seems that the whole world has been explored and the times of Shackleton, Anundsen and Scott are gone forever. People have roamed all over this planet. At first glance this appears to be disappointing news. However, because of the achievements of these great men, these places of exploration have a history. Many of their adventures have been forgotten and thus, a whole new age of discovery has arisen; to visit the places they discovered and to revive the histories they left behind. Antarctica is a place that has both the adventure and the history. It is still largely undiscovered, without people, yet it is still full of the artifacts of exploration. And, visiting its regions on a sailing boat that in many ways resembles that of those first intrepid explorers, continues to be a challenge on its own.
This books makes a photographic journey to Antarctica and, on the way, tells stories of nature, discovery and destruction related to the places visited.
