I find natural patterns and texture to be incredibly intriguing, thus the main concentration behind this body of work. I chose to do a formal study on my subjects as a way to semi return to my photographic roots. I often find myself in a battle between my formal training and this longing for individualism, yet while I began photographing for this particular body of work, I found myself steering in a direction that took me closer and closer to those formal techniques.
I believe that being a product of this time period, my entire life from day to day is so heavily influenced by over produced digital media, and I suppose I wanted to prove to myself that modern technology doesn’t have to be over indulgent. Accordingly, when I decided to use symmetry within these images, I wanted to demonstrate that symmetry can be calming, even somewhat graceful, when used in moderation. For me, this series allowed me concentrate on the quality of techniques, while modifying the content to create something all together new. I suppose I just like pretty pictures.
