In July & August 2008, Annette, her son Jacob and his friend Chris lived for a month in Guatemala. This is their story.
They went to Guatemala as a part of Annette's doctor of pharmacy practicum project, to learn Spanish, visit clinics and hospitals, and learn about medical care in Guatemala. They spent 3 weeks at the Miguel Angel Asturias Spanish School in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. The last week of their journey was spent in Antigua, Guatemala.
Come along, and become a part of this fabulous experience in one of the most intriguing countries in the modern world.
This is a place where modern and ancient cultures collide. A land torn by 36 years of civil war. A land fraught with poverty, yet the streets are not full of beggars or homeless persons. A place where a man still gives up a seat on the bus for a woman, and everyone wishes you good morning as you walk down the street every morning.
This is the land where God and soccer could possibly be the two most important forces in the modern world.
