Ben first picked up a camera to shoot a Depeche Mode concert in the late 1980s. Working with an unfamiliar camera he managed to strip every roll of film off their rolls. This unfortunate experience was repeated at a Jane's Addiction concert not long after. Reeling from these experiences, he ultimately ended up spending more time managing photographers for the magazines he was publishing then shooting himself. It wasn't until 2003, when after picking up a new digital SLR, that something clicked and he found his creative eye. Shooting more than 50,000 photos in the following 16 months, he merged his love of raw passion, intensity and other creative professionals such as DJs, musicians, performers and others into the passiontolive collections that exist today. As of Summer 2007, these collections feature more than 4,000 finished photographs celebrating a range of unknown and known subjects, including Grammy award-winning DJs Deep Dish, Thievery Corporation, Cirque du Soleil and more.
