Maya Janssen was tired of being told she wasn't old enough to be part of her mum and grandmother's conversations, especially when the bits she heard sounded so interesting. Like everything else in Maya's world, it seemed she would have to wait until she was older. She wanted to know things now, and since they wouldn't tell her, she wanted to be able to read people's minds! But imagine her surprise when her wish comes true, and she finds she has a magical power. Does Maya dare tell anyone what is happening to her? How will she use her special gift? And could it become a problem she wishes she'd never discovered? Suddenly, things in her life start to become complicated.
Mrs. Gaccioni is an English teacher at a middle school north of London, and loves to tell her students of her adventures. Maya's Magical Plait is her first published novel. She also enjoys hiking, photography, gardening, travel, and knitting. She has lived around the world, and is always looking for her next adventure. She may or may not possess the magical powers described in the story, but to this day, she keeps her hair very, very short.
