About the Book
Loving Lee is one mother's story of her exceptional son's battle with mental illness and addiction, and her personal journey of faith over the thirteen years of his illness. After Lee's death in 2010, Debra started the painful process of combining her journals of his last days with reflection on his promising childhood and subsequent descent into depression and alcoholism, with the hope that Lee will never be forgotten. By chronicling the anguish, helplessness, and frustrations of a broken health system known to millions of other families, Debra hopes to add her voice to those calling for meaningful changes in the way we address mental health in America, and the worth we ascribe to the individuals who bear the burden of these stigmatized conditions.
