About the Book
PRELUSION is a photographic series of images that bring to light a lifetime that was lived many years ago. It is the house that is the main subject in this pictorial homage, but the people that lived in this home have a life story of their own. The house seems to be determined to keep the past alive by struggling to survive the passing of time and the harsh winds of the prairie.
The house was built in the early 1900’s for a young bride and her husband, by her mother Lucy, whose family emigrated from England in the 1800’s. The two bedroom dwelling was the foundation and the beginning of many dreams and hopes for this young family.
Abandoned for many years, the house still has a romantic (dream) charm. It is this magic that brings about stories and questions of the people who lived here. If only these walls could talk, what would they say and what would we learn about this extraordinary lifetime.
