About the Book
I picked up a camera when I was fifteen years old, and haven’t been able to put it down since. I use photography to document people, mostly, as it allows me to create relationships with my subjects in an extraordinary, intimate way. My art is driven by these human relationships and interactions, especially with nature and the outdoors. My choice of genre comes from my love for fashion and art, and how I am able to connect the two together.
Bloom connects all of these into one piece – combing my affection for nature and human nature into photographs, while incorporating inspiration from fashion. Assisted by Malori Maeva at Hoot + Holler, we intertwined various florals with five different women and worked against a simple white wall. My work is not meant to tell a story; rather the essence of this project was to experiment with aesthetic – such as using the body to create interesting compositions, or using specific color palettes to portray a particular mood – and create photographs with the sole intention of being visually pleasing.
