About the Book
This book is an account of the schooldays of Mike Trubridge, which begins in 1961 with one year at Blairmore in the Highlands of Scotland. The bulk of this book concerns the nine years he spent at Christ's Hospital in Sussex, from 1962 to 1971. Using a combination of diaries that he kept at the time, school reports, other documents and his own memories, Mike describes in fascinating detail the traditions and customs of Christ's Hospital. These include cold baths, corporal punishment and sleeping on hard board beds in large dormitories. However, his story begins at a third school, Gordonstoun in the far north of Scotland and includes a fourth, Swainston House on the Isle of Wight.
