About the Book
The book is a written history of the life of Lucy Vang. Lucy tells her story of the Hmong traditions and her journey to America through first time author Victoria Jensen. Lucy reveals interesting cultural traditions in hopes that she can educate, promote understanding and help future generations of Hmong to understand their past and what Lucy experienced as she grew up and raised her family in the United States. She talks about the relationship between the U.S. during the Viet Nam war and how the Hmong people have been allowed to reside in the U.S., and she also takes us through the Hmong culture describing many very traditional events including details on marriage and the courtship process as well as end of life burial rituals. Lucy has spent many years in the Franklin, Wisconsin area and was employed by The Franklin School system where she has been an important part of welcoming the many Hmong families to the community.
