Living in Washington DC, we are fortunate to have a combination of great spring weather and terrific flower gardens. The floral images selected for this book are among some of my most favorites ones taken in the last 10 years.
The majority of these photos were taken at the US National Arboretum using legendary Zeiss and Nikon optics, and most important of all, the wonderful fine grain Fuji Velvia film. Meticulous attention was spent on digital color management workflow to ensure the book printings have the vibrant colors of the original slide images.
The book features many of the grande dames of the flower kingdom, such as tulip, magnolia, peony and orchid, presenting them in unique close up angles that people seldom notice, stop and appreciate. The photographs are grouped according to genus and arranged in the approximate sequence of the flowers' blooming schedule in spring.
