About the Book
Split a seed in half and it looks like a vessel. A vessel containing seeds is a seedpod. A seed is the beginning, the source. A seed crystal promotes crystallization. There are crystal vessels. Vessels float on water. Seeds are dispersed upon the water. Seeds are a propagative source of things not material such as seeds of content, seeds of virtue, seeds of compassion. Vessels are receptacles for the same non-material things. We can sow seeds of compassion, harmony and contentedness, just as we can be vessels of compassion, harmony and contentedness. I started on this body of work after a few of my images had a distinct botanical quality to them. Some reminded me of seed pods, others embryos of unborn beings. I thought about artichokes, giant seedpods, that are beautifully symmetrical when sliced down the middle. Nature in its perfection. This gave me permission to play with symmetry. I know there are those of you that think that symmetry is a cheap Photoshop trick, but I think that for some images it is the only option. I hope that you enjoy my collection of seeds and vessels and that they may inspire you to sow your own seeds and to become the vessel of your choice.
