About the Book
For the past 6 years, I have been blagging my way, obsessively, into the most entertaining and liveliest shows around Dublin - along with the odd sortie, beyond the Pale. From my humble beginnings at the Noggin Inn, Dun Laoghaire to the dizzy height's of Glastonbury - starting out with Iggy Pop , finishing up with the Rolling Stones - this is my take for what passes as real entertainment in Ireland, during these strange times. From punk to Hip Hop, with a dash of fashion and dance. A big shout to those dedicated fans - without whose obsession and fervour, it all just simply wouldn't work - all put together in the DIY attitude of punk , by yours truly.
Barry Delaney aka thebaz Dublin 2016
Irish Social Photographer, focusing on the Dublin, Limerick and Belfast urban landscapes. Influences: Punk D.I.Y. attitude; Robert Frank; Fergus Bourke; Tony O'Shea; Pablo Picasso; Sergio Leone; Martin Scorsese; The Clash; The Ramones ... History: Inspired by the colour of Punk, in the grey Dublin of the 1980s, accidently fell in love with film photography. Fully self taught, after the purchase of a digital camera in 2006, the obsession re-commenced. Since April 2007 I have been charting the daily lives of Dubliners of all different types, in their home environment, from Inner city Dublin, to Ballymun. Capturing unique people doing what they do, in their natural state, whether that is happy, sad ,laughing, having fun ,mischievous or just survival . Making the ordinary look special, and exhibiting something thats real, alive , hidden and different -- thats the aim - displaying the unspeakable. Making art accessible to all and not just the Elite.
