Avebury is a small village in Wiltshire, England, and it is the site of an impressive prehistoric monument. The principal feature of the Avebury site is a circle of standing stones. These stones were erected some 4,500 years ago; they are less famous than the constructions at Stonehenge, 17 miles to the south, but they are often considered to be more memorable. The whole area has been designated a World Heritage Site.

Avebury in Winter is a collection of photographs of this famous stone circle, together with some explanatory text. The photographs were taken after a fall of snow, which shows the stones in sharp contrast to the landscape.
