Artist William Powhida's new artist book documenting narrative, text-based drawings from his recent solo show, The Writing Is on the Wall, at Schroeder Romero Gallery in New York. Part catalog, part meta-fiction the book explores the artist's forced withdrawal and detoxification in a Thai prison as a metaphor for the art world's collective withdrawal from money.
"William Powhida, art world vigilante, virtuoso draftsman, compulsive calligrapher, fantasist autobiographer and recently self-announced gallery owner and art dealer, has a semi-solo show at Schroeder-Romero well worth catching." - Holland Cotter, The New York Times
