About the Book
In the Maori language, 'Arawhiti' means 'bridge'. Our goal is to create projects that build bridges between people, cultures and countries. Arawhiti Studios is made up of Jimmy Jisaka and Rie Kanzawa. Jimmy is an ESL teacher from New Zealand, with a BA in Japanese and Development Studies, and an MA in Applied Linguistics. He has taught in primary and secondary schools in Japan, and an English school for adults in Vancouver, Canada. Currently, Jimmy is living with his wife in Osaka, teaching university students as well as online one-on-one lessons. Passionate about helping English as a second language students get the best out of their lessons, Jimmy identified a gap in the market for easy to use teaching resources. Rie is from Japan and has an educational background in architectural design. She has worked as a wedding floral designer in Japan and a florist in Vancouver, where she is also expanding her interest in graphic design.
