About the Book
Kylie is a therapy dog who thinks she's just like any other dog, but as she tells her story she discovers that therapy dogs have very special qualities that help them to help others. Living in a home where her owners continuously train Kylie to do therapy dog work is just part of the story Kylie shares. She describes what it is like when visiting schools, libraries, hospitals, and special events like safety programs for young children. Becoming qualified to be a therapy dog is not an easy process, but an important one. Kylie shares what she has to do to pass her "test" and what Molly, the other dog in her house, is doing to become a therapy dog. A question and answer page is included for readers who might want more details on therapy dog work and how to find therapy dogs to work in programs. This book is illustrated with photographs of Kylie doing her therapy dog work as well as a few pictures of her just being a regular dog.

About the Creator
Carol is a retired middle school and high school teacher who taught reading and English classes. When she retired, she wanted to continue working in classrooms and with literacy programs. She also wanted a dog, so therapy dog work seemed to be a perfect way to help students and to get the pet she had wanted for quite some time. Although she has written several professional texts, this is her first children's book.
