About the Book
Around the beginning of 1995 I visited a retrospective of Marina Abramowicz's performances at the Museum of Modern Art in Oxford. The amusing blend of provocation and detailed technical description left me with a smile and an idea: that of an art performance free from the need of an audience. Soon I realized that this concept of art with no public would actually suit my photographic activities very well, and decided to put it to practice. The long nights of Oxford's 95 early Summer and the alternative world of TV broadcasting provided me with plenty of opportunity. Later that year I've collected the memory of the events in the form of a small hand made volume comprising a number of slide direct prints and a set of short texts. The book has since been passed from hand to hand among a restrict number of relatives and friends and seems to be reaching the end of its useful life. Thirteen years have passed, a good number for life and death and maybe also for rebirth before the eyes of a wider public. Even if this may well deserve to be seen with a smile.
