About the Book
Between the Gold Rush prosperity of San Francisco and the ingenuity of Silicon Valley lies sixty miles of expanse of smaller mini-cities. Towns such as Brisbane and San Bruno contain areas of light industry and maintain their niche as bedroom communities for the working class. Some of these areas have the look of being hard-hit by the realization of prosperous times past. It's here in these towns along Highway 101, a corridor bewtween two wealthier hubs, that a mild sense of banlity settles in to make its own quiet identity.
I find these sparse areas fascinating to discover and photograph as they bring forth a beauty in their seeming loneliness and isolation.
