About the Book
This third in the series of "Colors" coffee table photography books pays homage to nature around us, including the wonderful variety of textures, shapes, colors and patterns. It also includes examples of man’s use of natural forms in art and architecture and our embracing of nature in cities, parks and gardens.
This 118 page book features 150 colorful, high quality images I've gathered over several years, mainly in Western Pennsylvania, and also in New York, Oregon, Colorado, Maine and Washington DC. But I'll suggest that the meaning here is more significant than pleasing "eye candy," considering concern today for the future of the planet.
Minimal text establishes the context for each of the chapters as well as some historic and other interesting insights into the into the images.
In 2016, I launched a creative experiment in publishing a series of "Colors Of..." photo books with images I've gathered over the last several years. This bookstore features the fruits of the effort to date. Enjoy and share with fans of photography, Pittsburgh and, especially, brilliant color. These make great, one-of-a-kind gifts for friends, family and professional associates. The three books featured here include: • Colors of Pittsburgh: North Shore & North Side • Colors of Pittsburgh: Downtown & The Strip District • Colors of Nature: Nature and Man Embracing Nature. Background: My 39-year career in communications evolved from media support in universities... to commercial and public television production... to crafting marketing, PR and fund raising solutions.
