little watercolor squares
a yearlong project
by Jessica Singerman
About the Book
On January 1, 2016, Jessica Singerman started a yearlong project. On each day of that year she made a little watercolor square or an ink drawing. This book consists of 100 of the little watercolors inspired by the poetry of nature: color and light in the landscape, seasons, and the passing of time. Each watercolor was made as a kind of meditation and as a love letter to life and painting.
Jessica Singerman is a painter who lives in North Carolina with her husband and their four-year old son. Her current watercolor and oil paintings are abstract with references to the landscape, maps, and the body. Rather than portraying exactly what the landscape looks like in her paintings, she is interested in exploring what outside space feels like.
