About the Book
Fragments from everyday life in the streets of New York City. Sara Louise Petty captures the soul of the city and the people who inhabit it with these intimate, voyeuristic and compelling photographs.
Sara Louise Petty is a New York based fashion designer and most importantly, mother. Always a lover of photograhy and the arts, she picked up a camera, a plastic toy Holga and started to experiment in analog photography. Although the Holga produced (and still produces) some of her most moving images she moved onto 35mm and medium format cameras. She feels that digital photography is too instant and easy, preferring to savor the process with film and develop her own negatives. Sara is often seen in NYC, a mama with a Mamiya or strollin' with a Rollei. She enjoys street photography the most - capturing an unwitting subject. She's enjoyed great conversations, touching moments and endured some confrontations, but always comes back for more.
