When on tour as a musician in Taipei, Taiwan, I became fascinated with the miniature scenes found in the mirrors of motorcycles, which are the favored mode of transportation in this city. The geometric shapes of the mirrors, their reflections, and the cityscapes surrounding them combine to create both intimate glimpses and surreal collages of modern life in Taipei.

Gloria Justen has worked as a classical violinist since 1985 with some of the best classical music ensembles in the world, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and the Philip Glass Ensemble. She has produced CD of original music for solo violin, "Four-Stringed Voice," which is available at www.cdbaby.com and iTunes. Since she was a child she also was engaged in visual art and has experimented with drawing, clothing design, fabric dyeing and painting, and photography. These various disciplines are beginning to come together in current projects: creating wearable art and costumes, and designing sculptural audio installations. Gloria lives in the San Francisco Bay area, but also travels to Philadelphia regularly, performing and making art in both places.
