Spreading the Word on Writing and Health is a nationwide project organised by Lapidus and funded by Arts Council England.  It brings together eight professionals in the field to demonstrate the varied ways in which creative writing and reading can improve people's health and well-being.  Pilot projects have taken place across the country from Cornwall to County Durham and in settings as varied as a children's hospital school, a prison, a GP's surgery and a public library.  Participants have included trainee counsellors, women with chronic pelvic pain and people with drug or alcohol problems. Positive Words is the result of the Durham pilot project, run in conjunction with the Pioneering Care Partnership, Newton Aycliffe.
