The fantasy world created by Prof. J. R. R. Tolkien has sparked the imagination of young and old for a couple of generations now. Peter Jackson's vision and talent transformed the books into 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy of films. The fan following is nothing short of amazing and conventions and venues have sprung up all over the world where people can celebrate their own version of middle earth.
RingCon is one of these venues and is even styled 'the mother of all LOTR conventions'. For three days every October fans from all over the world converge on Bonn, Germany together with actors and talented people from behind the scenes - most of them coming all the way from New Zealand - who share the fun and mayhem with their fans. This book is a celebration of those three days and all the great people who have so lovingly organized the show and those who so very happily take part.
Arriving to Tuscany by way of New Mexico thirty years ago, Susi has divided her time between working as an administrative assistant for a large Italian firm and her second ‘life’ as graphic artist, designer, writer and photographer. Always intrigued by indigenous art, culture and the more extravagant, sharp edged beauties of mother nature, her love of the Southwest and Tuscany is slowly being replaced by her love of New Zealand. This fascination has brought her into contact with the incredible men and women who worked behind the scenes and in front of the camera on Peter Jackson's film trilogy 'The Lord of the Rings' and she has since brought out a series of books for LOTR actors and stuntlords. Returning to New Zealand as often as possible she works closely with Red Carpet Tours to promote their LOTR location tours. On the home front, music has, and always will, play an important part in her life as do books, a couple or three of cats, and a longbow.
