About the Book
This is a photo book of thorn works that I have created from 2012 to 2017. There are images of discrete sculptures in both natural thorns as well as bronze and wall installations such as those exhibited at the Daum Museum of Contemporary and Haw Contemporary Gallery. The book includes an essay by art historian, David Cateforis of the University of Kansas. I have been working with thorns from the honey locust tree for a number of years and I'm drawn to the inherent metaphors associated with them as well as their elegance of form.
I am a fine artist working with thorns from the honey locust tree to create large scale installations and discrete sculptures in bronze as well as in natural thorns. I also create pyrographs, drawings made with the use of a burning tool. I have shown my work in museums and galleries in the United States and my work has been influenced by an artist residency in Tokyo. I welcome inquiries about my work.
