About the Book
“Sum of its parts” is an exploration of sequential art. It may be better described as 'spatially juxtaposed images in a deliberate sequence'. The work focuses on photographic triptychs and diptychs, examining the relationship between images and the free flow of meaning that is derived from the linking of images rather than considering the ‘fixed’ meaning of photographs in isolation.
About Emily Woollaston commenced and is currently studying a BA (Hons) in Photography. Her practice and current work primarily explores concepts surrounding the photographic medium and the potential it holds to alter perception. She likes to focus on capturing abstract qualities in the world that may be perceived as commonplace, creating metaphorical links in her images which then result in individual narratives being created.
