This book is the result of five years of photography on site for British geotechnical specialist Systems Geotechnique, now part of Keller Group. The shots are mainly of men and machines installing foundations and ground anchors in large contracts involving flood protection, highway expansion, rail network improvement, river and harbour wall anchoring and the like. It will be of interest to engineers, civil and public authorities, principal contractors and also photographers.
Marcus Brierley is a specialist in reality and action photography. While he frequently has a "mind's eye" concept of an image he would like to make, he does not usually set up shots. Instead, he looks to explore sight lines, getting into place, lingering a little - and sometimes the right circumstances present themselves. Sometimes they don't, and then - sometimes there's something better he wasn't expecting.
