About the Book
FIFTY, a selection of 50 photo projects by American photographer Roger Minick, is a comprehensive survey of his 50-year love affair with photography. For each project, ordered chronologically, Minick has selected 2-4 images, with most of the total 135 images in the book having never been published or exhibited before.
Ranging from documentary to experimental to the fanciful and whimsical, the images herein chronicle a journey by an artist who has found much joy in creating memorable images that preserve unique moments in time –– that most ancient aspiration defining our humanness. As with the drawings found in prehistoric cave dwellings, this book seems to say, “Yes, I was here and this is what I saw!”
American Roger Minick has been photographing the American experience for nearly half a century. His photographs are included in permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the J Paul Getty Museum, George Eastman House, Smithsonian, and numerous private collections. Two previous mainstream photographic books, published by Scrimshaw Press, include DELTA WEST and HILLS OF HOME. Recent publications AMERICAN BIOGRAPHICS, SIGHTSEER, CELL PEOPLE, SEEN from TRAIN, PERAMBULATIONS, UNDOCUMENTED, THE ETERNAL STARE, PARTHENON MARBLES, CORNUCOPIA, EyeEurope, EyeRamblings, WEB.CAM, SHADOWLIGHT, DELTA, OZARKS, and FIFTY are published by Perambulation Press, a self-publishing venture founded by Roger Minick, specializing in fine quality limited edition books. Dylan Swift is Roger Minick's nom de plume.
