The mind encapsulates experience for us in unique ways. The mind of poet Stacey Simmons, is abrupt, changing, and sometimes harsh. It can simultaneously be fluid, compassionate, and reverent. Numinous experience is difficult to describe, thus the harshness of language. In this collection of poems, poet and artist Stacey Simmons tries to communicate her experience with encounter. Encounter with others, encounter with memory, encounter with kindness, and encounters in dreams. They are too rich for description, the truncation of poetry is the most approachable means to describe what happens when the dimensions of self and others come together, or clash.
Stacey Simmons is an artist and writer who lives with her five dogs, uncountable farm cats, four horses, one husband, and six acres. She is a native of New Orleans, and holds a Ph.D. in Urbanism from the University of New Orleans.
