About the Book
‘Becoming the Land’ explores links made between body and landscape, identity, time, and seasonality, in a practice led research project. Rhizome theory and Flusser’s essay “The Factory” (1999) are used to develop the notion that humanity might be defined by how we work the soil. Sense of place is evoked through the manipulation of found and assembled vernacular matter such as mud, hair, and sticks. Bodily adornment, value creation, and luxury theory influence this study with an interplay between making and photography at it’s heart.
