On a wet afternoon in Austria in 2001, I had the idea for this book. Bringing together photographs taken between 1999 and 2006, the book records the landscapes, villages and cities of central Europe, at a time when the eastern and western halves of the continent were drawing back together following the end of communism.

Paul Morris is based in Cheshire, England, and has been an active photographer since his late teens, working in both monochrome and colour, using traditional film-based technologies.
His work has been published in many photographic magazines and journals, and shown in various group exhibitions. His prints are held in several private collections. A number of his images were used in the brochure and programme for the 2001 Aldeburgh Festival of Music and Arts.
