About the Book
This book details a self-drive journey through British Columbia dn Western Alberta.
Starting in Vancover it covers the city; Granville Island Market; Capilano Canyon; Grouse Mountain. From there we take the Rocky Mountaineer to Banff in Alberta and the drive along the Icefileds Parkway taking in Johnston Canyon; Lake Louise; Bow Lake and summit; Peyto Lake and the Columbia Icefields. A stay in Jasper by the Athabasca River and visits to Miette; Maligne Lake and Canyon; Patricia Lake and Pyramid Lake. From Jasper we drove west passing the magnificent Mount Robson followed by McBride and Horseshoe Lake. Stuart lake and Fort St James, a Hudson Bay Trading post was out next port of call then onto Burns Lake and a trip to the fascinating museum there. Next to The Hazeltons to see the First Nation culture at Ksan; Ksipiox; Gitanyow; Gitwangak and Old Hazelton before driving on to Terrace where we stayed on Lakelse at the stunning Waterlily Bay. In Terrace we visited the George Little House before driving to the coast and Prince Rupert which was a jewel of a place and where we had the best meal of our stay in Canada at the Cow Bay Cafe. From Prince Rupert we went north by boat to visit the Khutzemateen Peninsula and thw grizzly bear sanctuary. The the Inside Passage to Vancouver Island; Port Hardy; the lovely Telegraph Cove; Butterfly World ta Coombs; Ucluelet and Long Beach at Tofino. The drive south to Victoria took in the awe-inspiring Cathedral Grove and then a visit to the gorgeous Buchart Gardens. A day in Victoria and the legislature Buildings then back to the mainland and our final destination, Whistler.
