About the Book
This photo essay focuses on capturing the beauty of the Arctic landscape and wildlife during Svalbard’s summer months. The arrival of summer in the Arctic brings with it a seemingly magical transformation. From four straight months of darkness, the sun emerges and breathes life back into Svalbard. The flowers burst forth from the ground, the birds swarm the melting ice to fish and the polar bears return to the ice flows to hunt. Summer is a wonderful time to explore the Arctic, but because of rising temperatures, each summer brings danger not just to Svalbard, but to the entire world.
