The White Shirt Diaries
In February 2008, I saw a picture of a white shirt hanging on a green wall. The wall was wooden, with fantastic textures. The shirt was folded and was hanging like a painting. You could see that the shirt still held its price tag.
All the details of this picture were compelling – this was another of Scott‘s creations!
I had met Scott a few years before on the photography sharing internet-platform flickr, where we both regularly displayed our work. Scott‘s creativity continued to amaze me!
Having seen his work with the elusive blue chair followed by his tea bag exposé the white shirt had now become his new photographic subject.
Struck by the picture of the white shirt, I wrote to Scott to ask him: „Can I have a copy of the photograph to hang on my wall?“ His answer was immediate: „It‘s yours! And if you want it, I will also send you the shirt!“
Arriving in the post one week later, this was the beginning of a year-long journey for the white shirt. After strolling in Switzerland with me, the shirt soon became famous. Many people wanted to welcome the shirt into their homes; with each invitation offering the chance to discover new horizons: Crete! England! Germany! Canada! United States! Holland!
As its hosts were all photographers, there is documentary evidence of this epic journey. It is this evidence you are about to see.
This is The White Shirt Diaries!
