About the Book
YOSEMITE 2007-2017 Yosemite holds a special place in my heart. My mother camped, and my father backpacked the park long before either of them met. They had their honeymoon at the Ahwahnee Hotel and took me and my sister to the park from the time we were infants. Day trips and week long camping; I have lost track of how many times I have visited. My countless sojourns have diminished the urgency to see its monuments of grandeur, instead I find peace in the quiet and distant places that hide around corners and in the shadows of the great monoliths of stone. It wasn't until I was in my twenties that I picked up a camera to try my hand at photography. The one place I have come back to over and over is Yosemite Valley. These ten years of photographs tell the story of my artistic progress and journey towards finding my own style. Each visit is another chance at attempting, yet failing, to convey the valley's majesty and beauty. Yosemite Valley has been a constant for me throughout my life. It's face never aging unlike the one I see in the mirror. I find a sense of safety here that goes deeper than the physical. Yosemite is the place a small part of my always lives. The part that knows that it's home.
