About the Author

E. Bernice Williams
SneezyB87 Victoria, Canada

Bernice Williams is a prolific writer and chronicler of the lives and times of her family and their pets. A widow, and the mother of four adult children, grandmother of nine, great-grandmother of four, Bernice played a key role in the upbringing of Niki and TC, who lived with her daughter Jan and son-in-law Frank in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. When their two beloved pets died within five months of each other, she was greatly moved by the poem "The Rainbow Bridge." "Over the Rainbow Bridge" was born of her grief at losing these two animal friends and her desire to exonerate one from the seemingly "dishonourable discharge" that brought her magnificent life to an end.

What a beautiul heartwarming book! I have a daughter who had to put her dog to sleep (Niko) - he was a rescue dog that had a bit of a mean streak and when they were going to have their first baby, they knew what they had to do. My daughter is a vet and had one of her technicians come to the house to help her put him to sleep. It was the hardest thing she has ever had to do - she now knows what her pet owners go through when she is doing the medical part. They now have a new puppy and my wonderful grandson. He and the puppy get along great. She will never forget her Niko, though. Your story is just wonderful! I think it would be wonderful for children who lose a pet or even to prepare them for the potential loss of a pet.
