In May 2008, the photographers of LUMEN, an independent photographers' cooperative, travelled to West Cork, Ireland. This book presents the highlights of this visit. The pictures were taken over 5 days.
LUMEN was founded in 2007 by three photographers who sought a fresh alternative to the established photographic workshop movement. Members participate not only as photographers, but also as critics, mentors and project managers for each other.
This book features LUMEN members:

I grew up in Malaysia, went to high school in Singapore and then on to university in New Zealand where I studied Economics and Business Administration. In the last few years I've rediscovered photography and through a combination of self-education and participating in formal workshops have progressed from vacation snaps to taking a more thoughtful approach. My main interest is in discovering and documenting the world, experiencing the magic and wonder of different cultures and lands - from the exoticism and contradictions of Cuba, to the passion of Sicilian Easter rituals, as well as rediscovering, through my lens, my homeland Malaysia.. I am a member of LUMEN, an independent photographer's cooperative. I am a former editor of Swiss Peeks, a series of Swiss photography books and former co-moderator of DigifotoCH, an online community for English-speaking photographers based in Switzerland. firstname.lastname@example.org
