About the Book
Words that mean so much to one person
and nothing to another…
The sun’s final glare lit the sky with a scorching orange streak, then started to fade, changing to a dull pink before disappearing altogether. The only sound was the lapping of waves, and the cry of a small gull as it took flight and vanished beyond the dunes.
The bitter wind blew small tornadoes of sand down the beach and around the girl. A single tear rolled down her face as she watched the stars dance around each other. She wrapped her jacket around more tightly and rubbed her bare legs, then jumped up and started to run down the empty beach. The mass of sand enveloped her and it all became too much, blurring, spinning into one big picture of white light. In the sudden brightness, the girl saw the truck, coming towards her, not able to slow down, not able to stop. It’s loud horn pierced the night, masking her own terrified scream, and then there was nothing.
Caitlin has lost more than just Tahlia. She’s lost support, encouragement and love.
She’s lost her best friend. And she's lost herself.
A heartwarming story of friendship and the daily trials of teenage life.
