About the Creator
Rooted in painterly abstraction, Denver-based visual artist Sarah Darlene Palmeri explores the connection between gesture, identity, and emotions through painting, collage and installation. Her work gives tactile form to emotional states, while also challenging our instinctual need to categorize and judge our visual experience. Palmeri aims to reimagine abstract expressionism from a feminine perspective to broaden the understanding of intersectional identity with both traditional and recycled materials. Sarah graduated with a BFA in Fine Arts from Louisiana State University in 2011, where she studied mass communication and studio art. She has worked with Think 360 Arts for Learning since early 2016, an arts education nonprofit that integrates the arts in schools and community centers around Colorado. Palmeri launched #TheMagazineProject in 2018 and her work has been exhibited in Ann Arbor, Baton Rouge, Boston, Denver, Dallas, Key West, Los Angeles, Taos, Santa Fe, and San Francisco.
