Tom's poetry in this book centers around his own personal spirituality, his belief in an intimacy with God, his empathy for the marginalized and vulnerable amongst us and a deep concern for all forms of life in Nature and in the flesh.

He believes all people, in order to stay sane and optimistic (in a world that is often divided by ethnicity, class, religions and age) need to have a good sense of humor, need to see all people as just extensions of "our family', need to have a caring heart for all of mankind and need to rediscover the awe and wonder we all had when we were children seeing life as new and fresh!
