Southside Pittsburgh is an image poem to a section of the city reborn and transformed from the rubble of a prior industrial time, yet still maintaining the unique flavor of those times. I remember vividly those foul smelling mornings as a student at The University of Pittsburgh when the smoke from The J&L Southside Steel Works wafted up to the Oakland campus. That's all gone now. We will take you on a journey of the section as it is today.
He has attended a number of photography workshops around the country, including Santa Fe Photographic, The Silver Eye Gallery, Pittsburgh, several at The Palm Beach Photo Institute in Florida, and several Photoshop courses. He studied HDR with Ben Wilmore at Palm Beach. In December of 2008 he attended a photo workshop in San Miguel, Mexico with Nancy Rotenberg’s group, Natural Tapestries, and just attended a photo workshop with author Jerry Courvoisier in New Mexico. He has exhibited in the 3 Rivers Arts Festival in Pittsburgh in 2000 and in Oct., 2000 had a one man show at The Merrick Art Gallery in New Brighton, PA. Some photos were accepted for use in the advertising industry. He won several photography competitions in 2008 including representation in the Jameson Health system annual calendar exhibit, and inclusion in the Farms of Western Pennsylvania poster competition.
