This book is a product of the relationship between a Cornell University class and the residents of Lansing Residential Center Unit A. During many of our conversations, the young women articulated their immense desires to leave Lansing to return home. The title of this book, Release, reflects these hopes, as well as the process of artistic and expressive release that defined our weekly activities.
Throughout the semester, Cornell students planned creative and expressive activities for our weekly visits to Lansing. The young women from Unit A and the students selected their favorite pieces for this book. We hope this book will provide insight and awareness into the multiple challenges facing imprisoned youth.
