About the Book
For one week in March of 2008, a diverse group of Christians from all over the United States joined together to minister to the medical and dental needs of the Mayan population living in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. This visit was a good reminder of all the luxuries we take for granted living here in America, though there was no shortage of smiles and hospitality.
Each team member was asked to submit a favorite recipe that was representative of their home town and was something they actually cook. Most people were able to participate, but in some cases I helped out.
This is a truly delicious collection of recipes reflecting the diversity of our group. In some ways, I felt that I learned as much from our fellow team members as I did from the people we were there to serve.
I will think of each of you as I prepare the same foods that you share with your families in your own homes across America. ¡Buen apetito!
