Author Profile: Averi Moos

Averi Moos is undoubtedly destined for great things. At the young age of 11, she has achieved a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and published her first, but definitely not last, work of fiction titled The Tale of Averi Moos.

We came across her incredible book while speaking with one of our collaborators. The moment we heard about her project, we knew this 11-year old author would have a story worth sharing.

How long have you been writing?

I wasn’t really interested in books or writing when I was younger, but when I started reading a lot more often in the past few years, I wanted to write my own stories and hope that people would enjoy them.

Where did you come up with your idea for a book?

I LOVE the ocean! I love it so much that I would talk about it to my mom all the time. And then one day, she said to me “Well, since you love the ocean and you want to write a book, why don’t you just write a story about that?” And I thought, YES!

Do you have more books in mind? Tell us about them.

YES, I have so many more books in mind! I actually just finished The Tail of Averi Moos 2 and I plan to have the collaborator I worked with for this book help me publish. I also am working on a book called, Animosis where all of the girls on North America are catching a disease called Animosis that turns them into animals and they have to live their lives as an animal, since there is no cure.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I would LOVE to be a great author one day, since I love to write. I’m not sure which college I want to go to though. I may go to USC like my Dad did or maybe the University of Arizona where my brother goes. I’m sure my Mom will help me figure it out when I am older.

Who do you admire most?

I admire my Mom a lot because she is a great Mom and loves me a lot. I also admire J.K. Rowling because she is SUCH a great author and she has written many famous books. They are both awesome people.

What do you value most in your friends?

I like that my friends are very nice to me and they are very funny so we can laugh a lot together. I also like that they are brave and loyal.

Who is your hero?

My hero is my Dad because he would always talk to me that he would want to be an author and write books when he was a kid like me. He would say that reading and writing are two very amazing, fun, and complex things. That was how I started reading a lot. He inspired me!

What is your favorite book (aside from the one you wrote) and why?

Okay, this is a very hard question for me because I have many favorite books that I can’t name just one! So I will tell you some of my favorites: the Harry Potter series, Wings of Fire series, The School for Good and Evil series, the Nancy Drew books, Sisters, Deep Blue, Rogue Wave, and Dark Tide. I like more books, though. Ahhhh that is such a hard question! There are so many wonderful writers and wonderful stories!

We love Averi’s passion for books and her excitement for telling stories. She reminds us that it’s never too early to start doing that for ourselves. Thanks Averi!
